About Bowers Jewelry
Bowers Jewelers was established in 1952 by Ralph Bowers in a small counter inside a general store in Huntington, Indiana, after he left the railroad industry due to polio. The business expanded into its own storefront, offering jewelry sales, repair, and watch and clock repair. Ralph’s wife Geraldine joined him, followed by their sons Gene and Bob, and their respective wives Susie and Diana, who all contributed to the family’s growing enterprise in the 1970s.
In 1983, Bob and Diana Bowers opened a second location of Bowers Jewelers in North Manchester, Indiana, expanding their family business. The two stores collaborated closely, sharing expertise, ideas, and inventory. Their son, Ben, graduated from the Gemological Institute of America in 1991 and returned to Indiana to work with his family, where he honed his skills and knowledge in the jewelry business under their guidance.
As the family grew, the two Bowers Jewelers stores separated, and Bob, Diana, and Ben relocated their newly independent store to Warsaw, Indiana, in 1996. Jim Bercik, their son-in-law, joined as a bench jeweler and worked until 2022. Gwynne, the youngest daughter, joined full-time after college, having studied business and finance at the University of Oklahoma. Long-serving staff members like Michelle and Cindy have been with the team for over 20 years, while Kayla, the newest addition, has been with them for nearly 10 years.
